student housing - college of coastal georgia

Working as a consultant to Lott + Barber Architects, jB+a provided site analysis, conceptual land planning, landscape and site irrigation design for the first ever student housing project on College of Coastal Georgia's campus. One of the newest four-year colleges in the University system, CCG recently completed a 20 year master plan which has subsequently spurred several new major building projects on this fast growing coastal campus in Brunswick Georgia. Located in a section of campus that included a significant number of endangered Slash Pine, the overall site analysis included personal site walks to identify existing trees that might justify moving building footprints, or trees in the area of the parking lot that were worthy of tree save efforts including parking lot re-design. With an extremely limited budget, jB+a concentrated on saving existing trees, use of native plants, and an efficient irrigation system design to conserve water.
